On March 30, 2023, Rich Figurido, a well-known singer for the band Wanted DOA, passed away.
Tragically, Rich Figurido of Essex, Massachusetts, died on Thursday. Rich gave his audiences nothing but the best shows, which had a tremendous impact on rock music and live performances.
This terrible news was shared on social media by Wanted DOA, and the message reads:
“A sad day for all that knew and loved Rich. He was an entertainer like no other and was put on earth to be on stage. He 100% loved playing for his fans, both for him and for them.
Needless to say that all that knew him are devastated by this loss. We ask that you remember him for his passion for music and performing. In the end, he couldn’t win his fight against cancer but he gave more to those around him than he will ever know. God bless you Rich Figurido.
Who was Rich Figurido?
Rich Figurido was a former lead singer of Wanted DOA. The young Rock musicians were greatly inspired by his voice and talent.
He gave his audience so much at every concert, making him the pinnacle of rock music. Rich was a fantastic frontman, vocalist, friend, family man, and well-liked by his contemporaries in the music business. He was a fantastic entertainer who also loved music.
Figurido, a longtime native of Essex, and his band give listeners the impression that they are mingling with rock aristocracy.
Rich mentioned this while talking about his singing experience, he said; “I love working for the crowd. I love the energy of being on stage. It’s a new crowd at a new venue every time, and trying to win that crowd over is a thrill. Every time we’re out there, we want to go big and put on a big rock show … with big music and big lights.”
What Happened to Rich Figurido?
A few years ago, Rich received a stage 3b melanoma diagnosis. He underwent several treatments and fought cancer fiercely.
Rich had a dull pain in the area where his kidney was removed last October, but doctors initially thought it was a muscle strain because he started performing again a month after the surgery.
However, it was discovered after multiple scans that his melanoma has migrated to his liver. He received a variety of treatments, and his loved ones and friends helped him through the healing process.
Rich, unfortunately, passed away on March 31, 2023. As soon as word of his passing spread, his friends and family immediately paid him their most sincere tributes.
Rich Figurido Cause of Death
In September 2019, Rich discovered that he had stage 3b melanoma. With the assistance of Dr. Howard Kauffman and his group at the cancer center, he started receiving treatment at Mass General Hospital.
His back tumor and underarm lymph nodes were removed. Melanoma was found in two locations. He had scans every three months while receiving treatment up until a tumor returned to his axillary lymph nodes.
27 lymph nodes around the large tumor were surgically removed. After a challenging recovery, Rich had scans that were clear for almost 11 months.
To raise money for Rich’s medical costs, a GoFundMe was set up. In order to assist Richard Figurido with his health, therapies, and surgery, FIGS FIGHT Friends and family started a GoFundMe campaign on his behalf.
Tragically, Rich lost his fight with cancer after a solid effort. His loved ones and friends will miss him terribly.
Jon Bon Jovi paid tribute to Rich after his passing in a statement that read:
I was lucky to have recently met Richie Figurido. He was the lead singer of Wanted DOA, a Bon Jovi tribute band. We spoke about our families, our bands and our mutual joy to make people happy singing Bon Jovi songs..and we also spoke about his illness. Sadly, Richie Figurido passed away today. Sending my love to his wife Sarah and his family.
