Oyibo Chukwu, the Labour Party candidate for the Enugu East senatorial seat, has been assassinated.
A lawyer named Oyibo allegedly suffered an assault upon his return from a campaign stop in the Agbani region. He was said to have been burned inside his car, and it was believed that three other people were also inside, however, it was not yet clear how many of them died.
Nigerian lawyer, businessman, and politician Chief Oyibo Chukwu was well-known. He has held a variety of positions in the legal profession and as a public figure, including that of chairman of the disciplinary committee of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Oji River Branch, and aspirant to the office of governor of Enugu State for the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

Oyibo Chukwu Cause of Death
Oyibo Chukwu, a senatorial candidate for the Labour Party in the Enugu East Senatorial District, and five of his followers were assassinated by unknown gunmen.
The event took place on Wednesday night in the Agbani neighbourhood of Enugu State’s Nkanu West Local Government. The shooters opened fire on the car before shooting Mr Chukwu and his supporters inside.
Chijioke Edeoga, a candidate for governor from the Labour Party, acknowledged the incident and placed the blame on political parties that felt threatened by the growth of the Labour Party in the state.
The event has not received a response from the Enugu State Police Command. Many Labour Party members and supporters were hurt during attacks that took place during election campaigns, and millions of dollars worth of property were also damaged or destroyed.
