Lauretta Onochie was born on July 9, 1955, to parents who were originally from the Anioma Local Government Area of Delta State. She spent almost a lifetime in the city of Calabar, Cross River State. Her parents were raised there too. She is always the best when she spoke her mother tongue, and she was also fluent in the vernacular (pidgin) of the area in which she lived.
The awesome childhood of this very distinguished scholar included a trip through her education that took her from one state to another in the country. This caused her to move about quite a bit. She left her hometown, Calabar at age 18 and traveled westward to complete her education before traveling overseas to further other intellectual abilities. After copmpleting her primary and high school education, Lauretta Onochie applied to the University of Calabar to seek a degree in Elementary Education. She was accepted almost immediately probably because of her intelligence or some positive unknown factors.
She got the option to complete her studies by enrolling at the University of Benin, so she decided to go to the western part of the country in order to pursue her educational dreams over there. She graduated from a reputable institution with a degree in Business Education and then went to another country to complete her post-graduate education there.
