Dr Jyoti Yadav is an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer who has made remarkable contributions to the field of law enforcement. Her early life was spent in Haryana, where she was raised in a family that placed a high value on education. After completing her schooling, she went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in science, followed by a Master’s degree in English and a Doctorate in Political Science from Kurukshetra University.
Career in Law Enforcement
In 1996, Jyoti Yadav joined the Indian Police Service (IPS) and was posted as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in the state of Haryana. She quickly climbed the ranks and was promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP). Her career took a significant turn in 2005 when she was appointed as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police in the Indian state of Punjab. Yadav’s performance in Punjab earned her recognition from the government and she was awarded the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
Yadav’s next posting was in the state of Uttar Pradesh, where she served as the DIG of the Varanasi range. Her achievements in maintaining law and order in the region earned her the Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service. In 2018, Yadav was appointed as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Haryana, becoming the first woman officer to hold the position in the state.
