On the fateful evening of Friday, February 15, 2023, when AKA and his close friend Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane were brutally shot to death in what has since been determined to be a coordinated hit, the renowned creative director and producer, Don Design was among the group that gathered outside Wish restaurant on Florida Road in Durban.
Due to insane conspiracy theories promoted by Nota Baloyi, who focused on Don Design’s body language just prior to the incident, leaked CCTV footage that caught the grisly double murder unexpectedly surfaced on social media and the internet.
Several keyboard detectives launched into wild conjectures regarding Don Design’s alleged involvement in AKA’s murder scheme despite having no formal training in human behavioral research or, better yet, any evidence of criminal psychology credentials.

Don Design is a DJ and artist who hails from South Africa. Don Design is a multi-talented artist with expertise in music video creation, apparel design, DJing, and creative directing. After helping him find a misplaced kit, he met AKA, with whom he later recorded behind-the-scenes material for the rapper’s music videos.
Some South Africans have defended Don Design despite the suspicion and criticism from social media investigators, pointing to their mutual affiliation with AKA. The musician, who previously worked for For Real, a record label that marketed house music CDs, left law school to follow his passion for music.
How Don Design met AKA
According to Africa News Agency, Don Design and AKA have been friends since at least 2014, when after repeatedly pitching the rapper ideas for artistic collaborations, he was given the go-ahead to make the music video for Kontrol featuring Da LES, which served as the lead single for Supermega’s sophomore album, Levels (2014)
The two artists developed a close friendship as a result of Don’s creative contributions to AKA’s works, and years later, their chemistry led to the critically acclaimed production of Supermega’s collaborations with Head Huncho, his own line of “Relax” streetwear, and a number of other music-related projects.
