Billy Packer Biography
In the town of Wellsville, New York, on February 25, 1940, Billy Packer was born. Packer’s father, Tony Packer, was an athlete at St. Lawrence University and participated there in baseball, basketball, and football. In 1982, his father received recognition by being inducted into the university’s Hall of Fame. In addition, his father spent many years as the men’s basketball team’s head coach at Lehigh University.
Billy obtained his diploma from Liberty High School in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. After that, he finished his schooling at Winston-Salem, North Carolina’s Forest University. He participated in the school’s basketball team throughout his final three years of study, playing the position of guard. Billy began working as an assistant coach for his alma mater as soon as he finished his education.
Billy Packer moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, in 1972 to start a new career in radio. After that, he received an invitation to fill in as a color analyst for an ACC game that was broadcast locally on television. He began working as a regular commentator the following season.

Billy Packer and Barbara were married for a short period. The couple was fortunate to have three kids. Two of his children, Brandt and Mark, each work in the media in some capacity.
